Ah, Wyoming. My home state has long been the subject of conspiracy theories about whether it even exists. So, when I wrote Court, I decided to take it one step further, and create a world where Wyoming is not just a state—it’s secretly a monarchy that’s been hiding in plain sight for over 300 years.
In Court, we meet Haakon McHale, a 17-year-old prince who’s just been handed the keys to the Kingdom of Eurus after his dad, the king, gets assassinated. Naturally, Haakon is thrilled about this responsibility. Just kidding—he’s a hot mess who has no idea how to rule. But don’t worry, he’s not alone in his chaos. There’s Gwendolyn, his fiancée who would rather do literally anything else than marry him; Alexander, his best friend who’s got his own issues; and Mary, a commoner who stumbles into this royal dumpster fire and somehow makes it even messier.
The story is told through four perspectives, and it’s a whirlwind of political drama, forbidden love, and enough bad decisions to make you feel better about your own life choices. And let’s not forget the setting—a kingdom that’s somehow managed to stay hidden in Wyoming.
If you’re into character-driven stories with a side of royal dysfunction, Court is the book for you. So, grab a copy and prepare to question everything you thought you knew about Wyoming. (Spoiler: It’s not just cows and tumbleweeds.)
